Hello everyone! I think it’s fairly safe to say that for most of us, it was back to the daily grind today. Whether you were back to school, back to work, or back to your daily routines, just think that it is a short week, and we are only two days away from the weekend!
Today is our first What I Ate Wednesday of 2013, and before we get into yesterday’s New Year’s Day eats, I would like to thank Jenn for hosting such a great party! If you are new to WIAW, please head over to Peas and Crayons, to find out more about the wonderful link-up.
Now, many people on New Year’s Day have traditional foods that are believed to bring good luck for the new year – long noodles, pork, round fruits, whole fish, pomegranate, greens, lentils, pickled herring, black-eyes peas, cornbread, etc. I, however, did not consume any of them. Oops. Well, maybe a round fruit and some greens…..you be the judge.
Brunch

Brownie Batter Oats and a steaming mug of cinnamon vanilla black tea

Half of a cantaloupe
Snack #1

Baby carrots dipped basil pesto hummus and a hot mug of mint green tea
Dinner

Steamed edamame sprinkled with a little sea salt

Three sushi rolls (all vegetable with avocado, cucumber, and carrots) made with brown rice with a little wasabi, tamari, and some pickled ginger
Snack #2

Pink Lady apple sprinkled with cinnamon and topped with natural almond butter
Time for a workout! I think a yoga session is in the cards today.
Have a great night friends!
Question of the Day: Did you eat any traditional foods that are supposed to bring good luck in the new year yesterday?

I adore cinnamon on apples, the best combo for sure.

I love warm cinnamon apples either baked in the oven or even in the microwave. Classic combination!

Love that Hershey’s coffee mug! Unless I go to a party I always forget to eat the typical NY foods! Maybe I need to set a reminder! Happy New Year!

Thank you! One of my students gave it to me.
Happy New Year girl!

I’m so jealous of your veggie sushi! I have never been a fan of sushi, but I’m now reconsidering.
